NFPA 130 Standard for Fixed Guideway Transit and Passenger Rail Systems
This standard specifies fire protection and life safety requirements for underground, surface, and elevated fixed guideway transit and passenger rail systems.
FST (Flame, Smoke and Toxicity) compounds meet or exceed the NFPA 130 (National Fire Protection Association) Standard and pass all the following testing:
ASTM C1166 ASTM E162 ASTM E662 ASTM E1354 BAPS SMP 800-C, Rev.6 BSS 7239 FMVSS 302 FRA Title 49 CFR Part 238 FRA Title 49 CFR Part 238-103 |

ASTM C 1166: flame propagation test
ASTM C 1166/ ASTMC1166 Standard
ASTM C 1166: Standard test method for flame propagation of dense and cellular elastomeric gaskets and accessories.
ASTM C 1166/ ASTMC1166 test method
Calculate the average flame propagation (FP) for R1through R6 according to the following equation:
FP= ([R1o-R1 f]+ [R2o-R2f] +[R3o-R3f]+ [R4o-R4f] +[R5o-R5f] +[R6o-R6f]) / 6
Where:
R1o=original R1
R1 f= final R1
R2o=original R2
R2 f= final R2
NFPA 130 Standard requirement
This test method is used for NFPA130 fire performance test for Elastomeric Gaskets and accessories
Average flame propagation shall be less than 101.6mm (4 in), and no specimen shall be completely consumed.
ASTME162/ASTM E 162 surface flammability testing
Standard name –ASTME162/ASTM E 162
ASTM E 162: Standard test method for surface flammability of materials using a radiant heat energy source.
Test Method –ASTME162/ASTM E 162
According to ASTM E 162 standard using a radiant heat source for surface flammability test, radiant heat panels is 12 * 18 feet, radiant heat source placed on the front panel samples, Samples close to the ignition source. Board index calculated radiation: Is, the sample flame spread factor Fs, the heat change factor Q, as follows
Is = Fs * Q
This test method is applied to NFPA130 fire performance testing part
Test data requirements: Is ≤ 25 or Is ≤ 35
ASTM E 662: Smoke density test
ASTME662/ASTM E 662–Standard
ASTM E 662:2009 Standard test method for specific optical density of smoke generated by solid materials
ASTME662/ASTM E 662–Test method
Smoke density (Ds) testing conducted in accordance with ASTM E 662. Sample in a sealed furnace, radiation heat is 2.5w/cm2 of Flaming combustion and non-flaming test modes. The test duration is 20 minutes. Recording the 4 minutes, 8 minutes, 20 minutes of maximum smoke density.
NFPA130 Standard requirement
This test method is applied to NFPA130 fire performance testing part
Test data requirements: Ds (1.5) ≤ 100 and Ds (4.0) ≤ 200
